Mayor of Dire Dawa, Ibrahim Osman Resigns
Mayor of Dire Dawa, Ibrahim Osman has submitted a resignation from his position. City council has received his resignation and assigned Mehadi Dire to replace him with the rank of deputy mayor.
The reason for the resignation of Ibrahim Osman who has served as mayor of the city for the last three and a half years didn’t disclose yet.
Months ago several were arrested in Dire Dawa following a conflict occurred after stone was thrown at worshippers who were returning home from Timket Celebration.
Dire Dawa is one of two chartered cities in Ethiopia (the other being the capital, Addis Ababa). It is divided administratively into two woredas, the city proper and the non-urban woreda of Gurgura.
The city was first founded and settled by the Afranqallo Oromo and now is home of many different people from all over Ethiopia.
