Fifa World Cup Trophy Tour Arrives in Ethiopia

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, organized by Coca-Cola, is touring over 50 countries around the world. The fourth FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola arrives today in Addis Ababa, Saturday 24th February 2018, giving Ethiopian fans the chance to experience football’s most coveted prize.

During its two-day stop in Addis Ababa, the event promises to delight Ethiopian fans through festivities organized by Coca-Cola in partnership with the Ethiopian Football Federation and the Ethiopian government.

A delegation including representatives from the Coca-Cola, media, government officials, and the Ethiopian Football Federation will join the tour in Khartoum, Sudan to receive the trophy and bring it to nation’s capital, Addis Ababa. Upon its arrival to Bole International Airport, officials from Coca-Cola will invite government officials to board the aircraft and receive the trophy, followed by traditional dance performers and marching band on the runway.

The Ethiopian leg of the The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will then kick off with a press conference at the National Palace, giving the participants an exclusive opportunity to be the first to see the famous trophy. After remarks by Coca-Cola representatives and key stakeholders, President Mulatu Teshome will receive, lift, and kiss the trophy, officially marking the arrival of the trophy to Ethiopia.

The trophy will remain in Ethiopia for two days and will be available to the media and thousands of football fans during Sunday’s consumer event at the Hilton Addis Ababa. The consumer event will give invited guests and fans – selected through different brand activation events at restaurants, hotels, and public spaces throughout the city for the past month – the opportunity to be part of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour experience. The tour is a rare opportunity for fans to see the most famous football prize up close and take a selfie with the original gold trophy.
