Ethiopian Tourism ‘Cruising On’ During State of Emergency
The Ethiopian Tourism Organization (ETO) has announced the number of tourists coming to Ethiopia has not been affected by the current State of Emergency. The Organization claims the number of tourists has actually increased 10% compared to the previous year.
Many countries have warned their citizens of travelling to Ethiopia following recent turmoil and the reinstatement of a State of Emergency last month. The precarious situation in Oromia Regional State cities and towns has been especially worrying as foreign consulates advise citizens to be vigilant while travelling in the country.
The tourism industry hasn’t suffered from the unrest though, and it’s business as usual as more and more tourists are flooding in to Ethiopia.
