A woman Demands Justice for 24 Years
Hana, a young woman was one of the crowd marched on the mass rally in support of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed which is held on last Saturday on June 23, 2018, in Meskel Square Addis Ababa, where a record number of people are assembled.
However, Hana was not in a similar frame of mind with the marching crowd who was singing and chanting to celebrate their new prime minister, she was seen crying and shouting her very deep concern for the people around her.
“I need Justice” she uttered with sob, demanding justice for her three brothers and a cousin.
“ I haven’t seen my brothers who arrested and detained before 24 years “ she disclosed to the people encircled her, adding that she had never visited them and the family doesn’t know where they are jailed.
On may 24, 1994 her brothers Minilik Tessema, Alemayehu Tessema, Wondesson Tessema and her cousin Daniel Agonafir were nabbed from their home located around Arat Kilo, Addis Ababa, and never returned, according to her.
The family was searching exhaustively and do not get any clue to find them.
‘’I am still asking for justice to my brothers’’ she said, Mentioning that her mother has died because of grief.
Hana seems hopeful and confident that the new spirit of love and togetherness that everyone celebrated that day will bring her brothers back.
She begs the new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who has pardoned thousands of detainees since he came to power to free her brothers.
