Ethiopia Introduces Perennial Sorghum Seed
The Ministry of Science and Technology announced that perennial sorghum which gives yield up to 20 generation, will distribute beginning to next year.
The first of its kind in the world, this perennial sorghum which remains in the soil for several years, will give production continuously for 5 to 7 years without the need for plowing the land, according to Dr.-Ing. Getahun Mekuria Kuma Minister of Science and Technology of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
This research which has been undergoing research for more than 25 years, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology is believed to contribute greatly to the food security of the African nations. According to Getahun.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is working to introduce new technologies so as to set up new technologies for various sectors, said Getahun in the press briefing, adding that the Ministry will focus on the issue of community development in the future.
